Somehow, that search led me to a small, overlooked country in the heart of the Balkans: North Macedonia 🇲🇰
What I found there genuinely surprised me.
Towering alpine landscapes that rival Switzerland.
Crystal-clear lakes older than most civilizations.
Deep canyons just minutes from a capital city.
Ancient monasteries carved into cliffs.
And prices that feel closer to Southeast Asia than Western Europe.
