Just when I thought the adventure was over… Iceland had one more trail waiting. 🌋❄️
The Fimmvörðuháls Trail is a legendary 25 km hike linking Þórsmörk and Skógafoss. It takes you between two glaciers, over volcanic craters, past lava fields, and down a valley lined with 20+ waterfalls — one of the most dramatic finishes to any trek in the world.
I hiked it over 2 days, spending a night in the remote Baldvinsskáli Hut, perched high in the mountains. The weather wasn’t always kind — wind, rain, and cold reminded me how wild the highlands can be — but the landscapes made every step worth it.
From surreal black-and-red volcanic ridges, to glacier views that make you feel tiny, to the roar of Skógafoss at the finish line… this was Iceland at its most extreme.
