Marilyn Monroe
June 1st, 1926 at 9:30 AM
Los Angeles, California, USA

This is a more advanced of the basic technique we covered in the previous episode of this series. If you feel like what we are doing here goes too far over your head, then just hit pause, and follow the link to that previous episode that’s in the description below, and start there.

Don’t get scared off yet, though. I will explain the technique in the clearest, simplest, easiest way possible.

*
The advanced version of the technique is almost the same as the basic version - we are just going to do it five additional times (once for each zodiac subdivision).

The one additional step will be to combine all six into into a final score.

D1
Here we see Marilyn as an “Aquarian / Gemini / Leo.” And this sort of makes good sense because this is a very entertainment-oriented trio (matching the 3rd and 11th air signs with theatrical Leo), it is also a somewhat indentity-complex trio, (pitting self-focused leo against self-diffused Aquarius, with very relationship-dependent Gemini) which also fits her well

D7
Now we will move the technique into higher gear and start applying it to the zodiac subdivisions. If you don’t know what these are, I also put a link in the description to get you up to speed on subdivisions.

Let’s start with the largest subdivision, the sevenths of signs, saptāṁśa. This one is particularly focused on sexuality and creativity, so it should be quite interesting for Marilyn.

This is her saptāṁśa chart. Parse it exactly the same way you did the D1: assign weighted points to each sign occupied, and tally up those points per sign.

This depicts her sexuality as “Libra / Leo / Scorpio” - which seems quite insightful!

D9
Next, do the same thing for her next subdivision, the ninths of signs, navāṁśa. This subchart talks about our inner nature and the person we actually want to be, and need to be if we will ever feel whole and “right” with ourselves.

Here is Marilyn’s navāṁśa. Parse it the same way, nothing new.

This is showing “Capricorn / Sagittarius” as the person she really wants to be. Extremely interesting, since it clearly depicts a person who is serious, profound, meaningful, and intelligent.

D10
The next subdivision is the 10ths, daśāṁśā - which is about our success.

Parsing Marilyn’s daśāṁśa with just like we did the others, we come up with a very dominant “Leo” image. Again this makes sense because her avenue to success was her self-confidence and theatrical flair.

D12
Two more zodiacal subdivisions to go. The next is the 12ths, dvādaśāṁśa - which is about inherited things.

Applying the exact same technique to Marilyn’s dvādaśāṁśā shows us a very dominant “Capricorn” inheritance. This reflects the Saturnian impact of her childhood, and its resultant work-ethic and tenacity.

D16
Finally, we have the 16ths, ṣodaśāṁśa, the subchart of peace and prosperity.

Applying our technique to this chart, we see a “Cancer/ Capricorn/ Aquarius” triad - depicting a very strong Saturnian influence making inner peace and tranquility and contentment a very difficult thing for her to achieve, and which usually only really happened in the course of her work.

Composite
Now that we have all the individual subcharts sorted out, it is time to get the grand picture and assemble a composite of them all. The very simple technique for this is just to add them all up, using weighting to reflect the relative dominance of the different subcharts.

According to Phaladīpikā,
- the main chart is the most dominant.
- the d9 is 3/4ths
- d7 and 12 are 1/2
- d10 and 16 and 1/4

So just
- take all the tallies from each subdivision,
- multiply them by their subdivision weight
- and add them all together per sign

This reveals Marilyn’s true sign to be dominantly Capricorn.

Remember, this is an OVERALL sign, not for any particular planet. It’s not an ascendant sign, so it doesn’t mean she will have capricorn physical traits, etc. In an upcoming episode I will show you how to get the true signs per each planet to work with that line of interpretation.

An overall Capricorn sign for Marilyn is profoundly accurate for a few reasons:

- her career was everything to her
- she had a very challenging time overcoming early negative experiences, so had to deal with a lot of negativity
- she nonetheless was extremely dilligent and tenacious and (the real Capricorn signature) rose out of the ashes, against the odds, into extreme stardom.

Backing up her Capricorn is a triad of “Gemini / Cancer / Leo” showing clearly the signature of her nature as feminine-entertainer.
