Been to a chain restaurant lately? You know, the ones with hundreds of locations. These chain restaurants are all corporations and they have CEOs at the top making millions a year. I ask myself: How can I be getting my money’s worth in a chain restaurant when that kind of money is going to a guy who isn’t even there? Try and find this guy when you’re sitting in one of his restaurants and you need a coffee refill. Why should we even take our business to places like that? If instead we take our dining dollars to a mom & pop—that mom or pop is at least there, putting in the work. And even if that mom & pop is charging just as much as the chain—well, at least they’re sourcing local food and keeping the money in the community instead of sending it off to a corporation. It’s a choice between value on your plate, or yacht payments for some guy in the Epstein class– a guy who has never once topped off your coffee.
