Dear all,
"Your Beautiful Garden" is a piece I wrote about 6 years ago. I presented it back then in a video, where you also find the view of my home and the garden where I grew up: youtube.com/watch?v=8sa_jpSas94&list=RD8sa_jpSas94&start_radio=1
Now, many years after composing it, I visited Franz Schaden and his Wavegarden, recording studio in Austria to make a new recording. In addition to this, I have made a brief philosophical excursion when practising and playing this piece again after many years. ;-) I want to share my thoughts with you here:
This piece is dedicated to my mother, or rather, to her garden. Actually, even more than just her garden: it's dedicated to her love for her garden and the way she talks about it, with a sparkle in her eyes.
Her love isn't only revealed when the flowers are in full bloom and the fruits and vegetables are ripe for harvesting. No, it's also long before that, when weeds need to be pulled, the soil prepared, seeds sown, and in summer, watering is required twice a day, and afterward—when the flowers have faded and the last tomato has been picked. And winter, too, must be loved, as it exists both before and after, and is therefore an integral part of the experience.
If you stand in a magnificent garden, with countless flowers and colors, but you have no connection to it, all you can say is, "Beautiful!"
Perhaps it's the “before and after” that constitute true love. If the before and after are seen merely as tiring work, is it perhaps not love, but simply finding pleasure in it?
Perhaps it's also a journey, and the "tiring" before and after leads to true love and is therefore no longer perceived as tiring. If you could buy the garden with only one click, year after year, would the feeling at the sight of the flowers and vibrant colors be the same? Would the fruits taste just as good and intense if you had received it planted along with the entire tree?
It’s a coincidence that today it’s Mother's Day. Nevertheless, I wish everyone celebrating it a wonderful day!

Liebe alle,
"Your Beautiful Garden" ist ein Stück, das ich vor ca. 6 Jahren geschrieben habe. Ich habe damals ein Video gemacht, um es vorzustellen, hier kann man den Ausblick und Blumen aus dem Garten sehen, wo ich aufgewachsen bin: youtube.com/watch?v=8sa_jpSas94&list=RD8sa_jpSas94&start_radio=1
Nun, viele Jahre später, habe ich Franz Schaden in seinem Tonstudio Wavegarden besucht und eine neue Aufnahme gemacht. Ich habe einen kleinen philosophischen Ausflug gemacht, als ich mich mit dem Stück und dem Thema erneut beschäftigt habe. Ich möchte meine Gedanken dazu mit dir hier teilen:
Dieses Stück ist meiner Mama gewidmet, bzw. ihrem Garten. Wobei, eigentlich noch mehr als ihrem Garten: Ihrer Liebe zu ihrem Garten und der Art, wie sie darüber spricht und erzählt, mit Leuchten in den Augen.
Ihre Liebe zeigt sich nicht nur dann, wenn die Blumen in voller Blüte stehen und das Obst und Gemüse reif zum Ernten sind. Nein, auch lange davor, wenn Unkraut gezupft, die Erde vorbereitet werden muss, Samen gestreut werden, im Sommer sogar zweimal täglich gegossen werden muss und danach - wenn die Blume verblüht dasteht und die letzte Tomate gepflückt ist. Und auch der Winter muss geliebt werden, der gleichzeitig davor und danach steht und somit ein Teil davon ist.
Steht man in einem prachtvollen Garten, mit unzähligen Blumen und Farben, doch mit keinerlei Bezug dazu, ist alles, was man sagen kann: „Schön!“.
Vermutlich ist es das Davor und Danach, das dazu gehört zu einer wirklichen Liebe. Wenn das Davor und Danach nur als mühsame Arbeit betrachtet wird, ist es vielleicht keine Liebe, sondern nur ein Gefallen finden daran? Vielleicht aber ist es auch ein Weg und das „mühsame“ Davor und Danach führt zur wahren Liebe und wird dadurch nicht mehr als mühsam bezeichnet. Könnte man den Garten mit einem Klick kaufen, Jahr für Jahr wieder, wäre das Gefühl beim Anblick der Blumen und Farbenpracht dasselbe Würden die Früchte gleich gut und intensiv schmecken, hätte man sie mit dem kompletten Baum direkt eingepflanzt bekommen?
Dass heute Muttertag ist, ist ein Zufall. Trotzdem wünsche ich allen einen wunderschönen Tag, die ihn heute feiern!
