Winnipegger Tareq Barhoumeh hosted a fundraiser and a TEDx talk to speak about the plight of Palestinians at his high school in Shenzhen, China, where he was an overseas student in 2023. Barhoumeh says his school asked him not to use the words Palestine or Palestinian or display the flag's colours.
