Jim O’Callaghan says Government is examining creating a separate offence for those who drive the wrong way down a motorway after horror M9 crash
“That is using a vehicle as a weapon, and it is a lethal form of behaviour that, as we saw over the weekend, results in deaths and serious injuries,” he said.
“But the responsibility primarily rests on the people involved in that behaviour. They’ve got to stop it because we saw what happens to the people involved in that behaviour. You’ll end up in jail, or you’ll end up in a grave.”
Mr O’Callaghan said he had spoken to Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly about introducing “pursuit training” for members of the force.
