There are major changes at the cottage this week as we remove the chimney, knock down the dividing wall and open up the historical fireplace.
With these walls being over 200 years old and constructed from solid (very big) stones, it comes down it quite dramatic fashion!
This whole process was made much easier because of Dessie and Red. DG developments were fantastic throughout. Ever wondered what it's like to see a chimney come down THROUGH the fireplace, crashing onto the floor? Well it's a sight to behold!
Anyway, with the wall down, the renovation is finally moving forward and we now have the start of a big open plan kitchen/diner.
This cottage restoration is no longer a restoration, more of a renovation but we will still be doing our best to keep the old farm houses character, using traditional materials wherever we can.
