Welcome back, fellow adventurers! In this video, we'll be preparing our adventure truck "Forest Dweller" for an incredible Canada Day long weekend of backcountry exploration. Before we embark on our journey, it's crucial to perform a thorough check and routine maintenance to ensure our vehicle is ready for the rugged terrain ahead. Plus, we'll reveal three essential pieces of gear that every adventure vehicle should have but you may be missing out on!
🚙 Adventure Truck Maintenance Checklist:
1️⃣ Fluid Levels: We'll start by checking the engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid. Topping up or replacing these fluids is vital for optimal vehicle performance.
2️⃣ Tire Inspection: Our tires are the unsung heroes on the rough backcountry trails. We'll examine the tire pressure, tread depth, and sidewalls for any signs of damage. Don't forget the spare tire—it should be in excellent condition too!
3️⃣ Brakes and Lights: Safety first! We'll ensure our brake pads and rotors are in good shape, and that all the lights—headlights, taillights, turn signals, and brake lights—are functioning correctly.
4️⃣ Battery Health: A dead battery in the middle of nowhere can put a damper on any adventure. We'll inspect the battery terminals for corrosion, check the voltage, and if necessary, clean the connections or replace the battery.
5️⃣ Fluid Leaks: It's crucial to look for any signs of fluid leaks, such as oil, coolant, or transmission fluid. Identifying and fixing leaks before hitting the backcountry will save us from potential breakdowns.
🎒 Must-Have Adventure Vehicle Gear:
1️⃣ Spill Kit : There are many fluids that our rigs rely on to maintain them selves and provide safe and effective transportation in all sorts of road and trail conditions. A spill kit helps to ensure that even in the event of a catastrophic failure you are still able to ride by the tread lightly principle and do your best to limit the impact you have on the world you're exploring.
2️⃣ Fire Blanket: Safety is paramount, and a well-stocked first aid kit is a must-have in any adventure vehicle. Consider adding a fire blanket to your kit as aside from driving sparks and flames may be the second most hazardous situation in the forest. You can do allot with a fire blanket make sure its part of your kit!
3️⃣ Go Bag: In the event you find your self hundreds of miles into the back 40 with no chance of driving out you have to be able to safely hike through often dense forest surrounded by wild life with no cell service in an environment that literally creates its own weather, make sure you're prepared for a multi day trek out to find help.
