You Gotta Move On
Deep in the woods, in the dark, while the birds lie asleep
Only one soul, one wise owl, is permitted to speak
And his words catch the breeze, and blow into their dreams
You gotta move on, with your life, leave your troubles behind
You gotta move on, with your life, what you seek you will find
You’ll never know why, till you try
Or how high you can fly……….
You gotta move on oooo ooooo oooo
You gotta move on oooo ooooo oooo
Deep in the woods, the day broke, and the birds they awoke
They talked of the owl, and the words that he spoke
And they vowed to a bird, they would tell the whole world….
You gotta move on……..
So over hill , over dale, they flew to the town
Where they chirped and they talked to the folk on the ground
But the words that they said
Flew right over their heads…….
You gotta move on……..
On the ground, in my home, I picked up my guitar
While the wind in the yard pushed the back door ajar
And these words before long
Blew right into this song………
You gotta move on……..
So last night, in the woods, I ventured to find
And to thank the wise owl, for his words so profound
But as I peered through the dark
I found these words scratched in the bark………
You gotta move on……..
