Wildfire smoke is becoming a regular part of summer in B.C. — but you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on an air purifier. For less than $100, you can build a DIY air cleaner using a box fan, a MERV 13 furnace filter and some duct tape. Research shows these simple filters can be highly effective at reducing wildfire smoke indoors when they're built correctly.
