Most people don’t realize this, but Morita Shogi 64 — a quiet little Japanese board game on the Nintendo 64 — was actually the first N64 game to feature online play. Released only in Japan, it used a special N64 modem that allowed players to connect, play matches online, and even download data from Nintendo’s Randnet network years before console online gaming became mainstream.
