It's been said that there are many benefits to painting with your non-dominant hand. For starters, when using the non-dominant hand, both hemispheres of your brain are activated, which may result in thinking differently, thus becoming more creative. Secondly, while your dominant hand excels at precision movements, your non-dominant hand has better stability, which can help you with painting large areas. Thirdly, it can be a useful strategy for loosening up and for experimenting with the potential of mark making without the preconception of a finished result bogging you down. And, lastly, it can just be super fun! I was challenged by my patreon members to paint one of my most famous Youtube acrylic painting tutorials, "Dandelion Fairy Dance" using my left-hand. That's right! Join me as I paint with acrylics only using my non-dominant hand. I have never done this before and I had no idea how it would turn out, but after learning about the many ways in which experimenting with your non-dominant hand could be of a great benefit to me as a painter, I figured I'd go for it!
