Some dogs are not going to become the outgoing dog you want them to be.
A lot of people adopt dogs that came from the streets, feral environments, or really stressful beginnings, then get frustrated when that dog does not want to go to soccer practice, Starbucks, yoga, the dog park, or meet every person and dog they see.
But no amount of training can completely erase a dog’s genetics, history, or DNA.
That does not mean you give up on the dog. It means you stop asking, “How do I make my dog different?” and start asking, “How do I give this dog a better quality of life and set them up for success?”
It is okay if your dog does not love everything.
It is okay if your dog needs more space.
And it is okay to accept the dog in front of you while still helping them live a better life.
