You can choose! takes a bold new approach to youth guidance video by combining comedy, drama, music, peer-education, and role modeling into a lively format that captivates and challenges young viewers. Each program in the series teaches children an important lesson which contributes to their self-discipline, decision-making skills, sense of responsibility, and ability to get along with others.
In this program, Saying No (To Smoking), Missy Mouse has to choose whether to say "no" to a friend or do something she knows is wrong. When Missy's best friend, Rhonda Bird, tries to pressure her-into smoking cigarettes, Missy agonizes over her options before discovering that there are ways to say "no" without it ruffling Rhonda's feathers.
Michael Pritchard is a juvenile probation officer turned comedian., public speaker, and youth counselor. After years of using humor to work with troubled youth, Pritchard took his act public, winning the San Francisco International Comedy Competition in the same year that he was named California's "Probation Officer of the Year." He previously appeared in The Power of Choice, the award-winning PBS television series for teens, also available on videocassette.
