John Charles Thomas & Roberta Rene return from last week to debate Rock and Roll music. Once again, Thomas steps down from the quiz segment in favor of a serviceman from the audience, Corporal Bob Pepin.
NOTE: Most of the quiz segment for the 1st couple was lost due to recording glitch. The rest of the interview is intact. Also, please note that the audio and video go progressively out of synch starting around 8 minutes in. I couldn't fix it, but it's not too distracting until the very end. Sorry for these problems!

An absolutely classic scene: Gracie applies for a new drivers license and encounters a nasty DMV clerk. Wonderful for many reasons, among them, displaying how impossible it was for anyone to ever make Gracie feel insulted. The bit with card over the eye always cracks me up.")

One of the funniest scenes Gracie ever did is when she destroys the act of Mendoza the Great, the magician shes been hired to assist. The lead up makes it all the funnier, so Ive included it as well.
Note that the video quality changes drastically at 2:03 for about 30 seconds. This is due to my having spliced in material from an old recording to cover a bit thats been deleted from current reruns.")

Heres a great scene from season 6, episode 28 of The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (April 9, 1956). In this episode, George is staging a vaudeville show to raise funds for son Ronnies dramatic school, when one of the young performers, Dianne, decides that comedy is beneath her and refuses to appear. Its up to Gracie to convince her the show must go on.
This is an exceptional scene, as theres scarcely another moment in Gracies entire career where she plays anything outside of her usual dizzy character, let alone delivers a full blown dramatic speech.")
