Attachment styles have been turned into identity labels. Terms like anxious or avoidant are often absorbed into personality as if they define who someone is.

What is commonly called anxious attachment is a nervous system trained to detect threat. It formed when love was withdrawn, shame was deployed, or abandonment occurred, wiring the body to anticipate danger in relationships.

This pattern is not a character flaw. It is a survival response designed for protection, not connection.
