Buried pain does not disappear just because self-esteem looks strong on the surface. When negative feelings are pushed away, they can return as reactivity, hostility, and behavior that feels completely out of control.

Real self-worth requires the strength to face what is happening internally instead of escaping it. The goal is not to feel good about every part of yourself, but to acknowledge the parts that hurt and experience them from a grounded place.

What gets hidden can still take control. Building real self-worth means turning toward the pain, recognizing what is there, and refusing to let avoidance dictate how life is lived.
