The name "God" (phonetically identical to Gad, 𐤂𐤃) was a Babylonian deity of fortune, and the term also ties to Teutonic paganism, where the word “Gott” referred to idols of war, power, and wealth.
Religious systems replaced the true Name of the Most High — 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 — with names rooted in idolatry.
