The next scene is the continuation of the prologue. After Kiryu beats Nagumo's ass for the umpteenth time, he heads back to Kiyomi's bar to feed Haruto and finish his drink.
Nagumo, on the other hand, gets ambushed by another yakuza Patriarch and his goons, Koji Masuzoe. Koji is quite the nasty thug leader and Nagumo is his lapdog who collects "taxes" from locals. But forcefully taking money from Kiyomi is too much for Nagumo to bear. He refuses to do it, even though it might cost him getting his finger chopped off or worse.
Underneath his crude exterior, Nagumo is actually a decent guy. And Kiryu of all people will never let someone with guts and moral character come to harm.
Time for Kiryu to save poor, old Nagumo.
