The Yakolev Yak-38 (NATO name 'Forger') was the only VTOL aircraft operating in the Soviet navy. It was developed in the 1970's, The Yak-38 Forger was a fixed-wing strike fighter jet, operating mainly from Kiev-class aircraft carriers.
