The Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar was a US Air Force hypersonic spaceplane that was very close to enter production in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Although the project was cancelled, research made during he project came to good use for the Space Shuttle and later for the Boeing X-40 and X-37B.
