I tested the xTool F2 Ultra UV 5W laser engraver, and I’ll be honest — I really don’t want to send this one back.

This is not just the standard F2 Ultra with a different name. The F2 Ultra UV behaves differently, works best on different materials, and the trade-offs really matter. If you’re looking at xTool lasers and wondering whether you should buy the F2 Ultra UV, the standard F2 Ultra, or even the F1 Ultra, this video should help you avoid buying the wrong machine.

At the time of filming, the xTool F2 Ultra UV is listed at £3,699.00, with an MSRP of £3,999.00.

xTool lent me this machine for review, and they’ve also asked me to look at more of their upcoming machines, including the new M2 laser and colour printer, so make sure you’re subscribed with notifications on if you want to see where this desktop manufacturing stuff is heading.

In this video I look at the packaging, build quality, safety features, software, camera calibration, UV engraving, crystal engraving, plastic marking, PLA scoring, maker coins, AirPods case engraving, and why I’ve basically become obsessed with putting serial numbers on random bits of plastic.

Disclosure: xTool lent me this machine for review. They have not paid me to say nice things, and opinions are my own. Affiliate links may earn the channel a commission if you buy through them.
