Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcome ceremony held by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek on Monday morning.

Escorted by a cavalry guard, Xi's limousine arrived at the Yntymak Ordo, the presidential administration building, where he and his wife Peng Liyuan were warmly greeted by Japarov and his wife Aigul Japarova.

Xi arrived in Bishkek on Sunday afternoon to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 and pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of Japarov. It marks Xi's first state visit to the Central Asian country after seven years.
