While it may look like my initial sweep across the circuit is a bit gung-ho with nearly thirty cars behind me, it was actually a very carefully calculated move! In the split second from launching I could see that the heavier cars behind me were not going to be an issue and that the car in front was moving sufficiently that I wouldn't rear end it. Another epic start, and this time without the off-circuit excursion that spoiled my getaway in race 1.
