Xbox Game Pass may be losing day-one games in 2027, and that's only one part of a leaked overhaul that also includes an ad-supported tier, cloud gaming as a paid add-on, and a stand-alone multiplayer subscription. Is this leak real? Who's behind it? And what does it say about where Xbox is heading?
I go through every rumored Game Pass change and the prices attached to them. I look at the track record of the leaker behind this, and at why Xbox's own recent moves make it hard to dismiss. Pulling Call of Duty from day one, the layoffs, and a CEO memo saying the business "is not healthy" all point in the same direction.
Then the bigger question: is Game Pass still a growth play, or has Xbox moved on to squeezing more money out of the people who already subscribe? Cheaper base price, fewer features, more add-ons. We've seen this before, and it rarely ends with the customer winning.
Nothing here is confirmed by Microsoft. This is a breakdown of a rumor, what we know, and what we don't.
Where do you stand? Would you keep Game Pass without day-one games? Tell me in the comments.
