In 2005, ATI (now AMD) showed this real-time tech demo for the Xbox 360, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). At one point (not shown in the video), the ATI representative showed that this was indeed being rendered in real time, by using the controller to change the perspective in the demo.

According to the ATI representative, the Xbox 360 that was running the demo, was the only actual xbox 360 unit that could be seen, on the show floor (I'm assuming others could be seen and played by developers and executives, in meeting rooms.) Apparently, the other playable Xbox 360 demos at E3 that year, ran on Power Mac G5s, using an early version of the development kit.

View at 720p to watch at 60 fps (although the demo itself ran at only 30 fps).
Note that the HD version of the video was upscaled from 480i.
