The WXPSKY 95-watt-hour Starlink Mini battery is a compact, purpose-built power solution designed to run the Starlink Mini when grid power is unavailable. Setup is straightforward, with the battery connecting directly to the dish via a barrel adapter and providing a clear power level display at the press of a button. In real-world testing, the Starlink Mini drew about 22 watts, which translates to several hours of usable runtime. In the field, even in a remote location with no cellular signal, the system locked onto satellites quickly and delivered a solid connection, proving that the battery can reliably power the Starlink Mini when you need internet off-grid.
After a week of testing, several limitations became more apparent. The battery only has a single port for both charging and output, meaning it cannot be recharged while in use. Once it is drained, you must fully recharge it before powering the Starlink again. Charging is also limited to the included power adapter, with no USB-C option, which reduces flexibility for true mobile or backcountry use. The mounting solution is another weak point, as it relies on a pole-style mount that does not align well with how many people use the Starlink Mini in mobile or temporary setups. Small design choices, such as uncovered screw holes on the bottom, also feel like missed opportunities for better durability and usability.
In response to these concerns, the company confirmed the battery is rated IP65 when plugged in and acknowledged the charging limitations, noting that version two is already in development. The updated model is expected to support USB-C charging, allow charging while in use, and extend runtime by roughly 1.5 hours. Even with its shortcomings, the current version makes sense as an emergency battery rather than an everyday power solution. It is well-suited for keeping fully charged in a vehicle or at home for power outages, providing roughly four to five hours of Starlink Mini runtime when other power options are unavailable.
