In this video Iowa graduate Ettore Ewen (08BA) discusses how his career has taken him from Kinnick Stadium to the bright lights of Wrestlemania. Big E, as he´s known to his legions of fans, is one of the WWE´s biggest stars thanks to his magnetic charisma and Herculean power.
The Tampa, Florida, native lettered for the Hawkeye football team in 2006 and saw action in 11 games on the defensive line before injuries derailed his college career. He earned a degree in health and sports studies from the UI in 2008 and began graduate school before an unexpected path opened to pro wrestling.
Since joining the WWE´s developmental division in 2009, then debuting on the main roster in 2012, Ewen has become a multi-time Tag Team and Intercontinental champion. Ewen is now using his platform to put a spotlight on Black history. He´s developing a new animated series titled Our Heroes Rock! that will celebrate historical figures like Ruby Bridges, Medgar Evers, and Ida B. Wells.
