Anna Dillon shows Hedley Thorne around the WW2 decoy radio site in the Aston Upthorpe Downs, including a look around the control room and the site itself.
England had a whole network of "decoy" copies of significant sites during WW2, replicating nearby ammunition depots, transport hubs, military bases etc and these were lit up at night to fox the German reconnaissance aircraft, which would then lead the bombers in... to bomb the wrong location!
This particular one was a decoy for the huge ordnance depot in Didcot, 3 miles to the North West. Part 2 will be filmed soon.
