From Monday 27 October, the Wurundjeri Way extension will open — the city’s first new CBD bypass in 25 years. It will give drivers a faster, more direct connection between the inner west, Docklands, South Melbourne and the CBD.
The extension includes a new bridge over Dudley Street and a 1.5-kilometre elevated road connecting Dynon Road to Wurundjeri Way. Six lanes will run between Dudley and Flinders streets — ready to carry more than 10,000 vehicles each day.
The untolled road will ease pressure on Spencer and King streets, help balance traffic across the network and improve access for the 73,000 workers and 17,500 residents in Docklands.
