The one thing we have learned from social media is that professional riders have been getting away with abuse for far too long. With video cameras everywhere it is time for horse trainers to realize they will be held accountable for all of their actions.
Olympian Mark Todd is the latest to come into the spotlight through a TikTok video.

Shocking video footage, believed to be two years old and recently resurfaced on social media, reportedly shows the 65-year-old New Zealand rider repeatedly beating a horse with a stick.
Shared by rider Chloe T on TikTok this week, the clip shows a horse grinding to a stop before jumping into a pool of water.
The rider tries to get the horse moving and a man, allegedly Sir Todd, runs after the horse and begins to beat his hind legs with what appears to be a branch.
The horse jumps from side to side, but still doesn’t advance through the water obstacle, and the animal is hit ten times before jumping into the water, the footage shows.
Video footage, believed to be two years old and has now resurfaced on social media, reportedly shows Sir Mark Todd repeatedly beating a horse with a stick
People can then be heard cheering as the horse trots through the pool of water. It is not known where the images were taken.
Commenting on the clip, social media users labeled the alleged whipping as “insulting” and “unacceptable,” with a caption next to the clip: “After seeing the full video, everyone is still undecided about their stance on this, IT IS offensive and IT IS unacceptable.’
Meanwhile, horse and farm supply company Equiwarehouse shared the video on its Facebook page, saying it would stop selling Mark Todd products in response.
The company wrote: ‘Without any regrets, we will no longer sell Mark Todd clothing, horse clothing or feed.
“Mark Todd Eventing, you should be ashamed of yourself, a despicable ‘professional’ and a disgrace to a human being.”
Meanwhile, other social media users were quick to label the alleged whipping as “heartbreaking” and “disgusting.”
