On March 28, 2023, Deputy Jeremiah Ricketts observed a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of East Silver Springs Boulevard. Deputy Ricketts conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Michael Parker, who showed signs of impairment. Parker advised he had been drinking and was driving in the wrong lane of travel because the other lane was moving too slowly.

Deputy Ricketts requested that Parker perform Field Sobriety Exercises, to which he agreed. The exercises were explained numerous times and Parker attempted the exercises. During each exercise, Parker failed to follow instructions, had difficulty balancing, and exhibited numerous indicators that he was impaired. Based on Parker’s performance of the field sobriety exercises and the additional factors Deputy Ricketts observed, Parker was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Parker was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he provided breath samples of .196 and .186, more than twice the legal limit.

$Marion Rundown (4-25-18) Alright, here’s your weekly rundown!! We’re going to start on what happened Saturday and work our way to today! So here we go: Deputy Galler conducted a vehicle stop on a black Toyota Camry at Maricamp Road and Baseline for a traffic infraction. When conducting a computer check on the vehicle it revealed that the owner had a warrant out of Palm Beach County for assault, resisting without violence and providing a false name to law enforcement. Contact was made with the driver, Arlene Swaby, who is the registered owner and in fact had a warrant. When Arlene was advised of her warrant, she stated she wasn’t going to jail, and rolled up her window, locked her doors, and slowly pulled forward. Well, that isn’t how this works, so additional deputies responded and Deputy Pitts used his assigned patrol vehicle to block Arlene from continuing to pull forward. She was taken into custody and transported to the Gold Star Hotel. Deputy Mitchell responded to a burglary-in-progress call at a home in the 10300 block of Southeast 148th Street. Timothy Bedard was located inside the home hiding in a bathtub. He was found in possession of property belonging to the victim along with a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Detective Rasnick interviewed Bedard who admitted to the burglary. He was arrested and transported to the Gold Star Hotel. Deputies Larocque and Hahn conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 13000 block of North Highway 441 for a moving traffic infraction. During the initial encounter deputies smelled the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed MDMA (Molly), cocaine, marijuana, and a magazine containing several rounds of 9mm ammunition. During a post-Miranda interview, Jamal Whitaker admitted the items belonged to him. Deputy Larocque conducted a criminal history and confirmed Whitaker was a convicted felon. He was arrested and transported to the Gold Star Hotel. Sgt. Johnson observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lane at the 9500 block North Highway 441. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with driver, Alexander Addison. Computer check on Addison’s license revealed multiple suspensions and it was revoked for driving under the influence. Field sobriety exercises were conducted which Addison failed. He was arrested and transported to the Gold Star Hotel where he blew a .291. Deputy Soucey was sitting in front of the Dollar General located in the 4400 block Northwest Gainesville Road when an unarmed Lowell Correction Officer, who was in uniform, came out of the Dollar General and advised that former inmate Michelle Romaine Ricks had pulled a knife on him inside the store and was chasing him around. Assisting Deputies Kelly and Demarco were able to Ricks locate east of the location in the wood line. She was arrested and transported to the Gold Star Hotel.
