Pipeline The Surf Coaster at SeaWorld Orlando is one of the most distinctive roller coasters in Florida and one of the most innovative attractions in any major theme park. Opened in May 2023, Pipeline introduced a completely new roller coaster experience to Orlando by combining the upright riding position of a stand up coaster with an advanced moving seat system designed to simulate the feeling of surfing across rolling ocean waves. Built by Bolliger and Mabillard, this first of its kind surf coaster quickly became one of the most talked about rides at SeaWorld Orlando and a major part of the park’s growing reputation as the Coaster Capital of Orlando.

The experience begins with a powerful launch that sends riders from the station to 60 mph in seconds. From there, Pipeline rises into a towering 110 foot overbanked turn before twisting through its signature wave curl inversion, a manoeuvre inspired by the movement and shape of a breaking wave. The layout continues with airtime hills, sweeping turns, fast directional changes and strong helices that keep the pace high throughout the ride. What makes Pipeline stand apart is the way the train moves with the rider. The dynamic seats rise and fall within the restraint system, creating a fluid sensation that feels very different from a traditional sit down coaster and gives the ride a constant sense of motion from launch to brake run.

The trains themselves are themed like surfboards, reinforcing the ride’s coastal identity and wave riding concept. The track uses ocean inspired colours and the surrounding area supports the surf theme, giving Pipeline a visual style that fits perfectly within SeaWorld Orlando. It is not only a roller coaster built for speed and thrill, but also one built around a specific feeling, movement and identity. Orca Encounter at Shamu Stadium is also located nearby, adding one of the park’s best known live presentations to the same area.
