Meet Rinny, our incredible 17-year-old Malayan tapir, who’s not only thriving at Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance, but teaching us all a thing or two about resilience and adaptation!
Despite being nearly 60% blind, Rinny confidently navigates her habitat at Toyota Elephant Passage thanks to personalized care from our animal care and veterinary teams. With modified training tools and carefully designed spaces, she’s built a routine that keeps her happy, healthy, and independent.
Malayan tapirs are Endangered, with fewer than 2,500 adults left in the wild. That’s why Rinny is more than just a beloved resident, she’s an ambassador for her species and a living reminder of what we’re fighting to protect.
