V.B. "Barker" Tunstall Sr. held the first World Championship Fiddlers' Festival on the Crockett town square in 1937. This episode of The Eyes of Texas surveys the scene in 1969, after the festival relocated to Davy Crockett Memorial Park. By the early twenty-first century, it included five competitive divisions as well as non-fiddle entertainment like a steak cook-off and a classic car show.

Various parties were responsible for managing the festival over the years, with the Jaycees taking over for Tunstall, followed by the Crockett Chamber of Commerce and a committee of local residents. The final Fiddlers' Festival occurred in 2024, but community leaders hope to revive the event.
