Working On A Simplex Steam Locomotive - Part #33. Painting the Boiler Backhead with Etch Primer. Although this is designed to etch Steel, it sticks very well to other metals. The Steam Chest Gland adjusters were damaged and I re-machined them. Once the Primer was dry after 24 hours I painted the Backhead Gloss Black. I replaced the Gland Packing with a couple of Steam Grade Silicone O Rings. After repairing the Mechanical lubricator I checked the Cylinder Drains to see if they were blocked I did this using a small twist drill.
