Work on the Westview Park reclamation is set to start this week, with the demolition of extension jetty number 3.
The reclamation itself is expected to take between 15 and 18 months, with a master plan showing the design of the buildings to be made public soon.
It will see 47,000 square metres of new land built, with 300 pensioner flats and 2000 affordable homes.
These will be sold on a 50/50 basis following the model seen in Hassans Centenary Terraces and other recent Government-built estates, with buyers paying only around the cost of construction.
Katy Docker asked Minister Gemma Arias-Vaquez whether there was a need for this many homes and what the current housing data shows about the level of demand.
