This is a project that you can easily do on a rainy afternoon and the wood doesn't even have to be Mullberry. I used Mullberry because I have it and because I like the transistion from bark to machined wood. Mullberry has a thin bark so the transition is almost instantaneous.
Unfortunately this one showed a few cracks after turning but after a week in the living room they haven't grown wider so it should be OK.
I already did a few of these, they are easy & fun to make. Why not give it a try this winter?!
