First cut from green wood in January and set aside to dry. Towards the end of April it was already dry enough to turn. Not my best piece ever but this was supposed to be a test piece and the state of the wood was not too great to begin with. Lots of punky area's that I could have become holes if I had been less careful. I wanted to turn this bowl to see what can be done with the Rowan (US: Mountain Ash) that I cut down.
Well, I must say I'm delighted. This wood cuts very nicely when wet but even better when it has dried and as you can see in the final shots the grain looks quite pretty after finishing. Let me know what you think!
