A Romanian sawmiller shares how one brand helped him grow a lasting, successful business. Watch the video interview.
In the heart of Suceava County, Romania, surrounded by some of the country’s richest forests, Ștefanoaia Ionică has built a thriving woodworking business from the ground up. His journey with Wood-Mizer began in 2006 at the BIFE fair in Bucharest, where he first saw the LT300 industrial sawmill. Among many other brands and machines from across Europe, it was Wood-Mizer that stood out. “It just seemed like the best one,” he says. “We ordered it on the spot, and soon the LT300 was delivered directly from the fair to our site.”
Over the years, Lacusta Prodcom expanded its lineup — from the LT70 sawmill in 2013, to the compact LT10 in 2018, and later the WM4000, a high-capacity industrial sawmilling line.
As new machines appeared, Ștefanoaia was among the first to adopt them. “I use nearly the entire Wood-Mizer range by now. If something new comes out that performs better, I’m ready to take it.”
But it wasn’t just the machines that earned his loyalty — it was the people. “Other companies reached out to me, but I stayed with Wood-Mizer. Their technology is modern, the engines are efficient, and the prices are fair.”
Having access to local support and spare parts in Romania made a big difference too. “Some brands have very expensive parts and high-power consumption. With Wood-Mizer, everything is accessible and affordable.”
After over 30 years working with wood, he sums it up simply: “I’ve learned a lot. Wood-Mizer sawmills are more efficient. We chose them, and we’re truly happy with that decision. We’re satisfied — and that’s what matters.”
