We had a woolly good time seeing our wood bison herd get special enrichment last month! 🦬
Students from the Siksika Board of Education lovingly painted boxes for our wood bison which our dedicated Animal Care, Health & Welfare team filled with a variety of food items. While moms ‘Keewatin’ and ‘Taiga’ headed straight for the snacks, male calves ‘Ok’takii’ and ‘Apapom’ were a little more cautious about the pyramid of big boxes – but the snacks proved irresistible and the boxes were the perfect way to test their strength! 💪
We’re grateful for the continued partnership between the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo and our friends at the Siksika Nation. Together, we are building bridges between cultures, deepening our understanding, and honouring the sacred connection between people, wildlife, and the land we share. 💕
