Loretta Lawrence said she went without a working home phone for weeks after her CenturyLink line stopped working in June, leaving her worried about how she would contact doctors or call for help in an emergency.
Lawrence said she made multiple repair appointments, but technicians never arrived. Despite an "out of service" credit appearing on her bill, she said she continued receiving charges while her phone remained unusable.
After KSL's Get Gephardt team contacted CenturyLink, the company said a construction contractor had accidentally cut the line and repairs were delayed while permits were secured. CenturyLink also offered Lawrence an Air-Line device, which restored her phone service almost immediately.
The company says other customers affected by the outage can request the same device.
