Our video today is about a wolf attacking and fighting a German Shepherd one on one. As we mentioned in our previous videos many times, that there are very few dog breeds that stand a chance against a wolf, specially a hungry one. Wolves have all the advantages over German Shepherds including Size, Strength, Bite force, Speed, Endurance, and Killer instinct.
Although German Shepherds were bred to preserve traits that assisted in their job of herding sheep and protecting flocks from predators. In Germany this was practiced within local communities, where shepherds selected and bred dogs that they believed had the skills necessary for herding sheep, such as intelligence, speed, strength, and keen senses of smell. But they used to work in packs and were there to make the owner aware of an approaching predators. Secondly it also depends on dog to dog and wolf to wolf. A dog raised in an urban area will be totally different than a dog that was raised on a farm and has enough practice and training to fend off wild animals.
Wild wolves are an apex predator and a keystone species and they are supremely evolved for this role. In the wild, all domestic dogs are inferior to wolves as is evidenced by the fact that. There aren’t many large packs of free-living, self-sufficient, feral domestic dogs out there making a living killing other creatures.
On the other hand if you ask a wolf to herd, retrieve, flush game, track or locate by scent, lead the blind, pull sleds or carts, kill rats and vermin, guard the property.Or any of the jobs that our dogs do with perfection , a wolf won't be more useful than a fish unless it's wolf dog.
A well trained German Shepherd that was raised on a farm maybe able to defend itself better than a shepherd dog that has never encountered a wild animal in its life time.
We won't say that it'll win over a wolf but at least it can give wolf a hard time and in some cases if the wolves aren't as hungry they'll give up just to avoid injuries.
However, as we've asked a question in our previous videos ample times that why would someone leave their dog outside in an area where the wolves share their territory with humans.
We can't see the purpose of keeping a dog just to get killed by wild animals.
We understand that they are kept to make owner aware of the approaching danger but if owner would never gonna wake up to its calls what is the point of having a dog.
In these areas if someone wants to keep a single dog or they can't afford a pack of dogs then there should be secure cages for these dogs.
So that wild animals can't get to them when they are attacked. This will solve the purpose of them constantly barking till the time owner wakes up and not loosing their life to the wild. Keeping dogs outside and not considering for their safety is just like keeping them to feed wild animals.
