Pitbull vs wolf - Pitbull saves Kangal from wolf
Our video today is about a Pitbull mix saving Kangal from a wolf. Wild wolves are usually intolerant of other canids and will kill them. Wolves kill dogs for several reasons, it simply can be to show dominance or get to the livestock that the dog is guarding or if the wolf is starving it will attack a dog to consume it. Farmers have used livestock guarding dogs for centuries to protect their livestock.
Most of guarding dogs alert owners by constantly barking, in some cases they scare off the predators. They do not necessarily attack wild animals, they defend the livestock against dangers rather passively. But when the predators are determined to get to livestock or to attack one of the pack members of the dogs, then they fight back.
In few cases dogs come out as winners and in most cases wolves succeed. Wolves will only start confrontation, if they are starving. For dogs it's matter of protecting livestock or to protect each other in the pack. But for wolves it's matter of life or death, as they have to eat to survive the next day. The motive behind the attack makes a lot of difference, when it comes to fights between dogs and wolves.
This Pitbull, was brave enough to risk its own life to save one of its pack members. The Kangal doesn't look much old either, it would hardly be 6 to 7 months old. The wolf that attacked Kangal was a gigantic Alpha male, and Kangal looked very tiny as compared to the wolf. There was a fully grown Kangal there as well, who did absolutely nothing to protect the young pup. Hats off to the Pitbull, who would rather die fighting a wolf rather than letting it kill one of its pack members. Pit bulls are superb dogs and would go to any extent to protect owner, property or livestock.
