Why do the prophets pronounce “woe”—and what does that mean for us today? In this session of our Habakkuk / Habacook Bible study, we walk through the prophet’s five “woes” (Hab 2) and trace how each one exposes extortion, profiteering, oppression, exploitation, and idolatry. We dig into the Old Testament context, Hebrew wordplay, and prophetic imagery (taunt-songs, lex talionis, “the cup” of judgment), then connect it to modern life, ministry, and culture. If you lead a small group, this episode includes built-in discussion questions to help you move from biblical interpretation to practical Christian discipleship.

You’ll see how the center of the chapter—“the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD”—anchors hope in the middle of judgment, and why Habakkuk ends the section with a call to hush before the God who still reigns. Expect careful Bible study, accessible theology, and concrete applications that challenge both individuals and institutions.
