Winter campervaning in Scotland hits different 🥶 Sometimes the proper winter conditions are not the -10 and powdery snow!! This vidoe is NOT about surviving (most vans will have heater now and fine - if you have enough fuel!!) but tips and what we have learned about taking the van out in Scotland over the winter (Scottish winter weather is a fickle beast and not often blizzards - more likely winter storm of gales and wind!!)
INSTEAD Damp Wild Driving Sleet and Temperatures hovering around zero degrees can be more deadly and harder to keep warm in!
This was my first proper time driving and camping in winter conditions in the new van with my wife and dogs (my son and I had taken the Weinsberg camper out the week before and got some snow but not as wild as this trip). No campsite, no guarantees — just cold temperatures, drifting snow, flooded roads, slush, driving sleet and a real test of how the van (and I) would cope.

Winter trips aren’t about having the best gear — they’re about preparation, habits, and respecting the conditions. If you’re thinking about campervanning in winter, especially in Scotland, this should give you a realistic look at what to expect. Most modern camper with have a decent heating system but fuels level need to be kept up or battery levels ok to get that diesel heater started etc etc
