Winter Olympics - Lillehammer '94, developed by Tiertex and published by US Gold in 1993. CD-ROM Edition (MPC 2 Double Speed) The game recommends a 386/25 but i kept with Dosbox auto settings as CM32 was hanging notes at around 5000+ cycles. The media part I had to run around a Pentium 60 else the audio would finish before the video and end it but the game it self falls apart at this speed.

"WINTER OLYMPICS offers you the ultimate experience in sports simulations. You'll race against the best in the world...and the clock fighting for GOLD in a game where you'll face 10 SPECTACULAR EVENTS testing your speed, strength, skill and endurance to the limit. It's your chance to go for GOLD in the WORLD'S GREATEST WINTER SPORTS SPECTACLE

Over 10,000 words of text and voice overs An introduction to Norway and Norwegian culture including a Lillehammer profile Historic video footage and stills tell the illustrious tale of the Winter Olympics, plus memories of 98 past gold medallists. A full overview of the 1994 Olympic Winter Games with venue descriptions and explanatory rules for each event."

The video firstly foes through all the encyclopaedia section of the CDROM going through each section one by one. I firstly display any on screen text for a short time followed by any videos or pictures. -=PAUSE THE VIDEO TO READ TEXT SCREENS=-

Following the info screens it is onto the game and this part is exactly the same as the Floppy Disk release. You can firstly select between Sound Blaster and External Roland audio (CM32 used in this case) and you do only get music plus sound effects when using an external synth. With SoundBlaster it is one or the other just like the Amiga game.

The gameplay is not so good as I didn't take it too seriously in this recording. The purpose is to show off the CDRom part and the game music. This version of the game is perhaps the hardest out of all the versions with some insane scores and times needed for gold. The difficulty options are not worth much with only a second or two between the difficulties and there is no benefit for playing on the hardest.

Overall I don't think it's a bad game and fairly well made for a Tiertex release , maybe there best work but theres not much fun to be found trying to reach those gold times. Maybe good for a quick game in multiplayer.
