This song was originally an ambient piece, but I rewrote the half of the song to make it an ambient-progressive blend. The subject matter of the song is purely imaginary and open to interpretation. It is based on a song that I wrote years ago about a fictional fellow named Winston. He is always in a hurry, but must stop his car one day when a family of lemurs crosses the road. Although he would usually find a delay to be annoying, he catches himself amused by the band of lemurs traveling in front of him. I realize that this is pretty random.
I write guitar-centric music that draws from rock, funk, jazz, soul, blues, and fusion. All of my songs are recorded in a home studio, where they are also mixed and mastered. David Gilmour, Eric Johnson, Frank Zappa, Pat Metheny, George Benson, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, and Nick Johnston are major influences.

This wont be the most popular song Ive ever released, but it will always carry a personal meaning for me. The song is pretty experimental, and I think of it as a song where my style is being pushed to something new. The song can be heard as a blend of the elements that make up my last single, Castle of Renfora the Eighth, an older, funky release called The Sound of Time, and a much older, very experimental song called Shiny New Spoons. Ive been increasingly incorporating progressive elements into my songwriting, and that influence is more obvious in this song. Even if the tune isnt your cup of tea, stick around for the groove breakdown at 2:20 and wait for the release around the 3:00 mark. I live for that tension.

A bunch of boisterous beans can’t be held down! Power without measure!
This song is about a bunch of unruly beans with a spirit that just can’t be stamped out. These are beans that jump around and smack you with enthusiasm just to show you that they are the most vivacious beans on the planet.
Not every song must be about inner conflict, the movement of light, the external forces that push the direction of our lives, and the midnight sky. There are times when songs about chili and beans are the right move. Fun with a capital F.
This song was written at the height of COVID pandemic, when most everyone I know was experiencing some degree of lockdown. Originally titled, ‘Long Line for the Chili,’ the idea was to focus on the experience of waiting in line for something you didn’t expect to wait for — like when there is an inexplicable 20-minute wait at a fast food drive thru. But then I flipped the frame of the situation, realizing that the chili must be really impressive if the line is comically long. And what kind of chili could be so good that it commands such a line? An Extraordinarily Rambunctious Vat of Chili, of course.
