On Sunday, January 29, 2017, a gunman carried out an act of terrorism at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec where men, women and children were gathered for evening prayers in Quebec City.

The gunman killed six men and injured several other people. Canadians across the country gathered to mourn the victims and demonstrate their opposition to bigotry.

On January 29, 2018 Winnipeggers gathered at the Manitoba Legislature to honour the victims:
